LG Display will unveil its next-generation in-vehicle display solutions at CES 2024, the world’s largest IT and consumer electronics show held in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the United States.

LG Display will be exhibiting at the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) with a booth about in-vehicle displays for global automakers and automotive electronics customers under the theme of “Optimal Solutions for Future Mobility.”

The company plans to suggest to customers in-vehicle display solutions optimized for software-driven vehicles (SDVs), which have recently become a hot item in the mobility industry.

SDVs, known as smartphones on wheels, are characterized by screenification, where various vehicle control and infotainment functions are enhanced, sparking an increase in displays for car drivers.

In response, LG Display plans to propose a variety of ultra-large automotive display solutions that fill car dashboards based on its differentiated technologies, including plastic-organic light emitting diode (P-OLED) panels, advanced thin OLED (ATO), panels and low temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) LCDs.

P-OLED panels are a premium lineup of ultra-high definition panels that are light and bendable thanks to their flexible plastic substrates, while ATO panels are a new product that offers the differentiated value of automotive OLED panels at an affordable price point as they are based on glass substrates. Compared to conventional LCDs, LTPS LCDs have the advantage of having larger sizes and showing higher resolutions.

LG Display will also introduce a viewing angle control technology, dubbed switchable privacy mode (SPM), that controls the display’s viewing angle to help drivers focus on the road ahead. LG Display will also showcase solutions that maximize the efficiency of limited space in vehicles such as slidable and foldable OLED displays that can be applied to the back seats of vehicles, allowing passengers to freely unfold screens.
