Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics are set to showcase their latest AI-enhanced home appliances at the world’s largest consumer electronics show, CES 2024, in Las Vegas from Jan. 9 next year, marking a significant clash in the industry.
According to industry sources on Dec. 28, Samsung Electronics will unveil a range of AI-powered appliances at CES 2024, including the robot vacuum cleaner Bespoke Jet Bot Combo armed with AI, the 2024 model of the stick vacuum cleaner Bespoke Jet AI, and the 2024 model of Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus.
The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, which functions both dry and wet, features significantly enhanced object recognition and driving performance through AI. Its AI Floor Detection function differentiates between hardwood floors and carpets, offering customized cleaning based on floor type.
The AI Object Recognition has evolved further. Equipped with 3D sensors and an object recognition camera, it can detect and avoid not only small obstacles as low as 1 cm but also a variety of objects such as smartphone cables and pet waste pads.
The Bespoke Jet AI is equipped with an AI Mode that optimizes suction power based on brush load and pressure, classifying the cleaning environment. It is the first wireless stick vacuum cleaner in Korea to receive the AI+ certification from the Korean Standards Association.
Samsung Electronics’ 2024 model Bespoke Refrigerator Family Hub Plus comes with an enhanced AI Vision Inside feature. It automatically captures the moment ingredients are put in or taken out of the fridge with an internal camera, creating a food list. The Vision AI technology, trained with about 1 million food photographs, can recognize 33 types of fresh food and automatically update the food list.
Additionally, at CES 2024, Samsung Electronics plans to showcase innovative technologies developed by internal ventures and external startups nurtured by its C-Lab.
LG Electronics has announced the upcoming release of its 2024 model QNED TV with a more powerful AI-based processor and the AI home assistant Smart Home AI Agent.
The 2024 QNED TV features AI Picture Pro technology, which discerns the genre of the video being watched and even the background scenes, providing a clearer and more immersive viewing experience. Its AI Sound Pro technology transforms 2-channel audio into a virtual 9.1.2 channel, offering richer sound. Customers using an LG Soundbar can enjoy 3D surround sound through the WOW Orchestra feature, which synchronizes the TV speakers and soundbar as if they were a single speaker system.
The Smart Home AI Agent, equipped with advanced robotics and AI technology, is notable for its mobility on wheels and autonomous driving technology. It intelligently recognizes and actively communicates with users, using multi-modal sensing that combines voice, sound, and image recognition, and advanced AI processing.
Users can remotely monitor pets using the product’s camera, speaker, and various home monitoring sensors, control lighting or air conditioning in specific areas, and receive smartphone alerts for unnecessary appliance usage or external intrusions, thereby reducing household chores.
