Taihan Cable & Solution announced on Dec. 26 that it has secured an order for a 380 kilovolt (kV) high-voltage power grid project from Germany’s TenneT. The contract is valued at 60 billion won (US$46.28 million).

The project involves the construction of a 380 kV underground cable network to expand the transmission grid for eco-friendly wind power generation in Germany. Taihan Cable & Solution will supply all materials, including high-voltage cables and connecting components, and will be responsible for the comprehensive execution of power grid design, laying, connection, and testing.

The selection of the company for the 380 kV project involved a comprehensive evaluation, considering technological expertise and overall project execution capabilities, as 380 kV represents the highest voltage level in the underground AC power grid used in Germany. Taihan Cable & Solution demonstrated its capabilities by successfully securing the turn-key project, outperforming competition from prominent global firms.

At the beginning of this year, Taihan Cable & Solution opened the door to the German high-voltage market by securing two consecutive projects totaling 70 billion won in Germany. With the additional large-scale project win, the company has reaffirmed its competitiveness in the German market.

Starting with the establishment of its U.K. branch in 2017, Taihan Cable & Solution has expanded its business network in Europe by establishing a subsidiary in the Netherlands as well as branches in Denmark and Sweden. As a result, the company has successfully secured major power grid projects in various European countries, including the significant London Power Tunnels 2 (LPT2) project in the U.K., demonstrating substantial achievements in the region.
