Mirae Asset Group has announced that its founder, Chairman Park Hyun-joo, will receive the International Executive of the Year Award at the Academy of International Business (AIB) Annual Conference to be held in Seoul in July 2024.
The International Executive of the Year Award, presented by the Academy of International Business, recognizes business leaders who have significantly enhanced their company’s reputation and performance on the international stage.
Chairman Park is recognized for his innovative leadership in advancing Mirae Asset Group to a global top-tier investment bank. He becomes the second Korean business leader in 28 years to receive this prestigious award.
The award will be presented to Chairman Park at the AIB Annual International Conference in Seoul, South Korea. He is also scheduled to deliver the keynote speech at the conference’s opening ceremony in July 2024.
Mirae Asset Group, under Park’s leadership as the Global Strategy Officer, has expanded its global business to manage customer assets worth 100 billion dollars in just 20 years since its establishment. Park led the group’s focus on overseas business, driving acquisitions such as the U.S. innovation-themed ETF leader GlobalX in 2018 and the U.K.-based ETF market maker GHCO last year. Notably, Mirae Asset Securities recently acquired the Indian brokerage firm Sharekhan Limited for approximately 480 billion won, marking a significant step in Mirae Asset’s new 20-year global management strategy.
