DL Engineering & Construction (DL E&C) has announced a feasibility study contract with Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), a U.S. petrochemical and energy technology specialist, for the production of sustainable aviation fuel using the “Alcohol to Jet” (ATJ) technology that converts plant-derived ethanol into aviation fuel. The agreement, disclosed on Dec. 13, marks the start of collaboration between DL E&C and KBR, combining their strengths and expertise to propose business development strategies using ATJ technology to sustainable aviation fuel producers.

DL E&C will handle the pre-design (FEED) of the production plant, detailed design (EPC), procurement, construction, and commissioning. KBR will take on the basic design before pre-design, providing core technology, catalyst selection, and maintenance solutions. Together, they aim to offer total solutions across the sustainable aviation fuel industry.

Yu Jae-ho, head of the Plant Business Division at DL E&C, stated, “As the application of sustainable aviation fuel expands globally, DL E&C will collaborate with global companies to provide various solutions and establish a leading position in the sustainable aviation fuel industry.”
