LG U+ announced on Dec. 11 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Korea Toyota Motor Corporation to develop membership services and install chargers for expanding the domestic electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

As part of this agreement, both companies will develop new Toyota membership services targeted at new car buyers.

Members who sign up for LG U+’s VoltUP EV charging service can enjoy free charging for up to 50,000 won during their first month. Additionally, they will be eligible for various joint promotion benefits. Membership will be available starting with customers purchasing the 5th Generation Prius Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) scheduled for release in Korea this month.

The MOU signing ceremony at the Korea Toyota Motor Corporation headquarters was attended by important representatives from both companies, including Hyun Jun-yong, vice president of LG U+’s EV Charging Business Unit, and Toshiyuki Nakahara, executive director of Korea Toyota Motor Corporation.
