In celebration of LG Twins’ victory in the Korean Series, LG Electronics has initiated a 29 percent discount on home appliances. Following suit, Samsung Electronics has also joined the discount battle. As the two major players in the domestic home appliance industry, LG Electronics and Samsung Electronics are rolling out various discount events to coincide with year-end festivities.
According to industry sources on Dec. 10, LG Electronics has decided to host the “LG Win-Win Festival” from Dec. 21, separately from its recent participation in the Korea Sale Festa. This event is dedicated to celebrating LG Twins’ victory in the Korean Series and is centered around a home appliance discount promotion. Taking inspiration from LG Twins’ triumph in the Korean Series after 29 years, LG Electronics has set the discount rate at 29 percent.
Specific discounted items have not been announced yet. Details about the discounted products are expected to be disclosed on the day of the event, Dec. 21, through announcements on LG Electronics’ online brand shop.
Samsung Electronics is also responding to LG by hosting the “Samsung Week Black Friday” discount event. Additionally, it is anticipated that Samsung Electronics will organize its annual Samsung Electronics Sale Fiesta early next year, providing consumers with more opportunities for discounts.
At the Samsung Electronics online brand shop, samsung.com, customers can enjoy discounts of up to 47 percent when purchasing two or more items, such as refrigerators and washing machines, simultaneously, compared to the regular prices. Single products will receive discounts ranging from 20 percent to 40 percent.
When making payments with Samsung Card, different discounts will be applied based on the payment amounts. For payments exceeding 20 million won (US$15,152), a discount of 900,000 won will be provided. Payments exceeding 15 million won will receive a discount of 700,000 won, and payments exceeding 10 million won will be discounted by 500,000 won.
