Pernod Ricard Korea, the Korean unit of global wine and spirits company Pernod Ricard, announced that it will expand its professional training in sustainable and responsible bar operations at Jeju University.

The ‘Bar World of Tomorrow' is a training program designed by the Pernod Ricard Group to promote a sustainable and responsible culture within the wine and spirits industry. The program has been targeting bartenders, bar owners, hoteliers, chefs, and others in the food and beverage industry who are of legal drinking age in Seoul and the metropolitan area, but it has expanded its scope to provide relevant education to university students, who are expected to become the main workforce of the industry.

A total of 10 special lectures have been held at universities, and on the 7th, the program will be held for Jeju University Tourism Management students over the age of 19. It aims to help establish a sustainable and responsible bar operations in the food, beverage, and hospitality industry by educating young adults who are interested in the future and the environment about the knowledge of sustainability, how sustainability can be practiced across related industries, and responsible drinking tips.

Pernod Ricard Korea has provided trainings to university students aged 19 and above in Hotel management and Culinary arts majors at Dongseo University in Busan, Kookje University in Suwon, and Jeonju University, and since its launch in January 2022, nearly 400 bartenders, food and beverage workers, and university students in related majors have completed the program.

Meanwhile, Pernod Ricard Group has set its 2030 Sustainability & Responsibility roadmap, ‘Good Times from a Good Place’ which is being implemented in all its subsidiaries around the world as part of its efforts to fulfill its commitment to environmental protection and sustainable management in all its business areas. The Bar World of Tomorrow training is part of the efforts to live up to this commitment. In addition to the regular training program, Pernod Ricard Korea has also launched the ‘T-Talk’ program, a follow-up session to provide a place for continuous and in-depth discussion on sustainability and responsibility in the bar industry.
