Bukwang Pharmaceutical announced that a delegation from the state of Sarawak in Malaysia, led by Sarawak’s Minister of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, visited its headquarters and research center on Dec. 5 to explore collaboration possibilities with Korean pharmaceutical companies. The delegation was received by Bukwang Pharmaceutical’s CEO Lee Woo-hyun, President Seo Jin-seok, and other key management and research and development staff.

During the visit, the delegation introduced the capabilities of Sarawak’s clinical research, including the ongoing construction of the Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre, the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre, and the Sarawak General Hospital. In response, Bukwang Pharmaceutical shared insights into the Korean pharmaceutical and biotech industry, its business model, research facility operations, R&D pipeline, and strategies. The visit included a tour of the company’s headquarters and research center.

A representative from Bukwang Pharmaceutical stated, “The pharmaceutical industry in Malaysia has grown from US$2.3 billion in 2015 to US$3.6 billion in 2020, showing a high Compound Annual Growth Rate of 9.5%. Korea is recognized as a leading country in healthcare, and we foresee a vast market potential in trade. We are delighted that this visit has provided an opportunity for fostering a mutually beneficial relationship.”
