LS Cable & System has announced the launch of its 5G-class Power over Ethernet (PoE) cable on Dec. 4. This product supports the world’s fastest communication speed.

LS Cable & System is optimistic that their new product, Simplewide 2.0, will be a viable replacement for the expensive optical cables previously used in multi-channel cameras and high-definition CCTV systems.

PoE technology enables the transmission of data and power simultaneously through a single cable. Simplewide 2.0 supports communication speeds of 5 Gbps and power delivery of 100 W to devices up to 180 meters away. This marks a significant improvement over the previous highest performance, which was 1 Gbps and 30 W at 200 meters.

The 5G-class communication speed enables high-quality video streaming and data backup for IP cameras, CCTV, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Furthermore, Simplewide 2.0 has also increased its power delivery to a world-leading 100 W, enabling the operation of high-performance CCTV with features like motion detection.

A company representative stated, “Compared to optical cables, installation costs can be reduced by 40% to 50%. There is also no need for the separate installation of power cables and sockets. Demand is expanding, particularly in subways, parks, schools, sports stadiums, and smart buildings.”
