KT announced on Dec. 1 that it had swept two categories at the GLOTEL AWARDS 2023 held in London, the U.K., on Nov. 30 (local time). Nominated in four categories -- 5G Future Vision, 5G Specialized Network Project of the Year, Best Telecommunications Operator, and Security Solution of the Year -- KT emerged as the global leader in the 5G Future Vision and 5G Specialized Network Project of the Year.

In the 5G Future Vision category, KT’s achievements in 5G Integrated Core technology for 5G-Advanced (next-generation 5G) and its VoNR pilot service were highly commended. Notably, the integrated core technology, capable of simultaneously handling 5G NSA and SA services in a single system and enhanced with Network Slicing and Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) technologies, was recognized as a key competitive advantage in the future 5G market.

The 5G Specialized Network Project of the Year award honors companies that have shown outstanding application in the growing field of 5G specialized networks (Ieum5G). KT’s foray into military and medical sectors using the 5G specialized network, along with its AI-based e-Um5G Intelligent Control Solution and the construction of a dedicated 5G specialized network testbed, were particularly praised for enhancing its competitive edge in future 5G specialized networks.
