Samsung Electronics has confirmed on Nov. 27 that they have completed the trademark registration for the terms “AI Smartphone” and “AI Phone” in connection with the launch of an artificial intelligence (AI) equipped smartphone next year. This registration was finalized on Nov. 24 with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and the U.K. Intellectual Property Office (IPO).

Samsung Electronics plans to include “on-device AI” in the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, set to be released early next year. This technology enables the device to independently collect and process information without needing to transmit data to the cloud, resulting in faster processing speeds and enhanced security, as it does not rely on central servers. Notably, some features are expected to utilize Samsung’s newly introduced proprietary AI model, “Samsung Gauss.”

Leaks and predictions about key specifications are gradually emerging. Citing well-known tipster “Revegnus,” tech publication SamMobile speculates that the Galaxy S24 series might be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 3rd generation and Exynos 2400 application processors. The design is anticipated to be similar to the Galaxy S23 series but with less curvature, and a switch from aluminum to titanium for the material.

Samsung Electronics is expected to unveil the Galaxy S24 series at its first-half product launch event, Galaxy Unpacked. Foreign media speculate that the event will likely take place in San Jose, California, approximately a 12-minute drive from Apple Park, Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, on Jan. 17 (local time).
