Coway Co., Ltd., the “Best Life Solution Company,” announced today that its Seoul-based R&D Center, the Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute, has been recognized as an international testing laboratory by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) for the 22nd consecutive year.

The Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) is an accreditation organization run by the South Korean government to assess laboratories’ testing capabilities according to international standards. Each evaluation covers a range of aspects, including organization, facilities, and human resources. Recognition from KOLAS signifies an institution’s adherence to rigorous international testing standards.

Coway R&D Center first obtained KOLAS accreditation in 2002, becoming the first recognized company in the industry. Since then, it has consistently upheld its accredited testing status through assessments every 2 years. This year, Coway reaffirmed its accreditation by showcasing exceptional testing capabilities in line with global standards, particularly excellence in water quality analysis and other stringent criteria.

The most notable aspect of this year’s assessment was additional recognition for ten new test items focusing on trace amounts of heavy metal components like lead, arsenic, and chromium in water, aligning with the international standard ISO 11885.

Following the 22nd KOLAS recognition, Coway R&D Center now holds accreditations for a total of 52 specifications in water quality and microbiology, covering an extensive range of 101 test items. Coway is now accredited for testing the most comprehensive array of elements in the industry, serving as a testament to its outstanding water quality analysis and expertise both domestically and internationally.

A Coway official stated, “We’re delighted to receive the KOLAS accreditation again. This affirms Coway's ongoing dedication to strengthening our water-related research expertise. Moving forward, we’ll boost our global standing as an environmental home appliance leader, utilizing our internationally recognized research capabilities and analytical proficiency."

In addition to the KOLAS accreditation, the Coway Environmental Technology Research Institute is acknowledged as a drinking water quality inspection agency by South Korea’s Ministry of the Environment, a TSP (Technical Service Provider) by WQA (Water Quality Association), and a designated laboratory by the TÜV SÜD Korea. These credentials firmly establish Coway's reputation in the field of testing and analysis. Coway leverages its world-class water quality analysis capabilities to generate approximately 20,000 test reports annually that improve global water quality standards.
