It has been found that the Nexo, Hyundai's next-generation hydrogen-fueled electric car run 609 kilometers on one charge.

Hyundai Motor held the 'Nexo Media Experience Day' at Goyang Hyundai Motor Studio in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province on February 5 and explained such details.

Nexo's single-charging mileage stands at 609 km, which is the highest mileage among hydrogen electric vehicles on the global market today. This means that the Nexo can run about 40% longer than the Tucson hydrogen electric car, which was a first-generation model. This is because the Nexo is powered by a high-efficiency next-generation hydrogen fuel cell system developed by Hyundai Motor. The system scales up both the hydrogen storage density and capacity of a hydrogen tank, allowing the tank to store more hydrogen than before. The Nexo's fuel tank can store a total of 6.33kg of hydrogen when fully charged, and its combined fuel economy is 96.2km/kg (based on 17-inch tires).

Hyundai Motor decided to extend warranties period on hydrogen fuel cell components from 5 years or 100,000km to 10 years or 160,000km. In addition, the automaker will carry out hydrogen electric vehicle maintenance at 22 directly managed service centers nationwide by strengthening its maintenance network exclusively for hydrogen electric vehicles.

Hyundai Motor aims to achieve 10,000 hydrogen electric vehicles in sales by 2022 in line with the government's plan to distribute eco-friendly cars. "Hyundai has been massively investing in research and development in the field of hydrogen electric vehicles recognized as the ultimate eco-friendly car since 1998," said Kwon Moon-shik, head of Hyundai Motor's R&D department. “The Nexo will show people future mobility.”
