On Oct. 24, Yoon Hee-sung, the president of the Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), stated that he anticipates the scale of the second round of defense exports to Poland to be “slightly larger than 30 trillion won (US$22.26 billion).”

During a parliamentary audit of the National Assembly’s Strategy and Finance Committee held at the KEXIM headquarters on the morning of that day, Chairman Yoon responded to a question from Yang Ki-dae, a lawmaker from the opposing Democratic Party, who asked, “Is the second round of defense exports to Poland expected to be around 30 trillion won?” Yoon replied, “It hasn’t been definitively decided yet.”

Regarding the support scale from KEXIM, Chairman Yoon said, “We have received a request, but as it is scheduled to start from 2026, further negotiations are needed.”

Previously, Representative Yang proposed a KEXIM Act amendment to raise the statutory capital limit to 35 trillion won.

He explained the background of the bill, saying, “There is a suggestion that we need to strengthen KEXIM’s role in current defense exports. With the current statutory capital limit at 15 trillion won, it is difficult to provide additional support.”

In this regard, Chairman Yoon also expressed agreement, stating, “I believe that increasing capital is the most proper way to provide further support for (defense exports).”
