Seven South Korean construction companies, including Samsung C&T and Hyundai Engineering & Construction, have been selected as “Top 100 Global Construction Giants.”

On Sept. 20, the global consulting group Deloitte released its “2022 Global Construction Giants” report, announcing that seven South Korean construction companies, including Samsung C&T, Hyundai E&C, Doosan, GS Engineering & Construction, Daewoo Engineering & Construction, DL E&C, and HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, have been included in the “Top 100 Global Construction Giants.”

The rankings were determined by considering various factors such as performance and market capitalization from the previous year. Samsung C&T and Hyundai E&C both made it into the top 30. Samsung C&T was the highest-ranked domestic company at 15th place, although it fell two spots compared to 2021 at 13th place. Hyundai E&C maintained its position at 23rd place from the previous year.

Among the top 100 construction companies by country, the European Union (EU) had the highest representation with 41 companies. Japan had 14 companies and the United States had 13 companies while China had 11 companies. Despite having fewer companies, China accounted for 54 percent of the total revenue of the top 100 construction companies. Among the top 10 companies in terms of revenue, 8 were Chinese firms.
