According to industry sources on Sept. 20, Samsung Electronics will produce Exynos-brand application processors (AP) for Galaxy smartphones at its new factory in Taylor, Texas, in the U.S. using a 4-nanometer (nm) process.

The first official product to be produced at the Samsung Taylor factory, currently under construction with a goal to be completed this year and begin mass production by the end of next year, is expected to be integrated into Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S25 series within the wireless business division. This series is scheduled for release in early 2025. The Taylor plant’s inaugural customer will be the company itself.

The industry believes that Samsung Electronics has decided to secure its own orders to align with the production schedule at the Taylor foundry, facing difficulties in securing external customers. The 4-nm process also takes place at domestic campuses in Hwaseong and Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi Province, Korea.

The specific product into which the AP produced at the Taylor factory will be incorporated within the Galaxy S25 series and the regions where it will be sold remain unknown at this time. However, one of the reasons South Korean companies are building factories in the United States is to take advantage of tax benefits associated with producing products for the domestic market, so there is a possibility that Taylor-manufactured APs could be used in Galaxy smartphones to be sold in the United States.
