The Federation of Korean Industries (FKI) said it dispatched an economic mission with key officials from the government and business to Poland to attend the Krynica Forum, which was held from Sept. 13-15.

The Korean business community is visiting Poland again just two months after a presidential delegation in July.

The Krynica Forum is an international conference sponsored by Polish President Andrzej Duda and has been called the “Davos Forum of the East.” The Korean delegation to this year’s forum was organized after President Duda invited Korea as a special guest of the forum during President Yoon’s visit in July.

The joint public-private delegation consisted of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, Ahn Deok-keun, head of trade negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Uhm Dong-hwan, head of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. There is also a private delegation led by Ryu Jin, chairman of the FKI, including Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun and LG Energy Solution President Lee Bang-soo.

From the Polish side were a number of government officials, including President Duda and the ministers of infrastructure, state property, and regional development, among others.

At the opening ceremony on Sept. 13 where Prime Minister Han was a special speaker, various issues including defense, energy, and climate change were put on the table, with cooperation between Korea and Poland for Ukraine reconstruction taking center stage, according to the FKI.

The following day, Sept. 14, the Korea-Poland Forum was held as the main session of the Krynica Forum. Following opening remarks by President Duda and Prime Minister Han, panel sessions were held on the trade and investment supply chain, the defense industry, the energy infrastructure and reconstruction of Ukraine, and cooperation on nuclear power plants.
