On Sept. 14, HD Hyundai’s HD Hyundai Energy Solution announced that it has signed a solar module supply contract with Portugal’s MCA Company amounting to 130 MW. The total contract value is 422 billion won (US$318 million).

Under this contract, HD Hyundai Energy Solution will supply approximately 200,000 solar modules to MCA by February 2024. MCA plans to use these products for their approximately 300 MW Solar II Project.

This project, led by the Angolan government, aims to supply electricity to approximately 200,000 households in 60 villages within Angola and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025. The recently contracted 130 MW of solar modules is for the project’s first phase, with the total project expanding to 170 MW over its second and third phases, expected to progress in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

It’s worth noting that HD Hyundai Energy Solution had previously signed a contract in May with MCA for the supply of 22 MW of solar modules.
