HD Hyundai’s HD Hyundai Electric announced on Sept. 10, local time, that it has signed a contract worth 678 billion won with Saudi’s power transmission and transformation construction specialist Al Gihaz. The products procured this time are intended for the “Mountain Substation,” which Al Gihaz is newly constructing in the northern region of Saudi Arabia for the stable power supply of Neom City. HD Hyundai Electric plans to supply the entire set of power equipment, including ultra-high-voltage transformers, high voltage circuit breakers, and reactors, in a package format by February 2025.

Saudi Arabia’s Neom City project is an eco-friendly future city construction project that supplies 100% of its power consumption from renewable energy. The Mountain Substation is the second substation that Al Gihaz is constructing in Neom City. It is expected that the Saudi government will continue to increase investments in the construction of power networks to expand eco-friendly power capacity. An official from HD Hyundai Electric stated, “This contract is a result of the excellent quality and technical skills of HD Hyundai Electric. We plan to actively participate in upcoming large-scale power infrastructure projects with a customer-centric strategy.”
