The Born2Global Center, which supports Information and Communication Technology (ICT) startups in their overseas ventures, is set for a new beginning as a foundation a decade after its establishment.

The Ministry of Science and ICT (hereafter referred to as MSIT) announced that the K-ICT Born2Global Center, currently a public organization under the Korea Association for ICT Promotion (KAIT), is changing its name to the Global Digital Innovation Network (GDIN) and will relaunch as a foundation.

In June, the MSIT approved a plan to make the Born2Global Center an independent body focused on overseas exports. Subsequently, in a founding board meeting held last month, former Born2Global Center head Kim Jong-gap was appointed as the CEO of the new foundation. The chairman role will be concurrently held by CEO Kim.

GDIN CEO Kim Jong-gap stated, “We aim to establish a ‘global digital road’ through proactive overseas ventures, pioneering emerging markets, and establishing close-knit local support via new international cooperative bases.”

Meanwhile, over the past decade, the Born2Global Center has supported 2,962 companies, securing investments of more than 4.6 trillion won both domestically and internationally. Among its member companies, Sendbird and Riiid have risen to global unicorn status, while Lunit, Smart Rader System, and Seculetter successfully went public this year. The Joint Venture (JV) support program, initiated in 2021, has set up over 25 JVs worldwide and established 43 partnerships.
