YG Entertainment announced on Sept. 5 that the mobile game based on girl group BLACKPINK’s brand, “BLACKPINK The Game,” saw its OST “THE GIRLS” rise to #1 on the iTunes song chart in 30 countries.

BLACKPINK released THE GIRLS on Aug. 25. The song carries a message about a courageous and independent life. Members Jennie and Rosé participated in both writing and composing the track.

A company representative stated, “The rhythmic and intense sound coupled with BLACKPINK’s powerful rap and vocals has received rave reviews from music fans. It is making a notable impact on various global charts.” THE GIRLS also secured a top spot on the iTunes Worldwide Chart and entered Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Chart at 45th position.

On YouTube, despite the music video for THE GIRLS only featuring 3D avatars of the band members and not their actual appearances, it ranks 4th on the “Global YouTube Song Top 100 Chart.” Currently, the views have surpassed 211.4 million.

Meanwhile, BLACKPINK is currently on their “BLACKPINK WORLD TOUR [BORN PINK],” the largest world tour ever by a K-pop girl group, drawing approximately 1.75 million fans from North America, Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East. On Sept. 16 and 17 they plan to conclude their tour with a grand finale concert at Gocheok Dome in Seoul, marking the first time a K-pop girl group has performed there.
