LOTTE Energy Materials announced on Aug. 24 that the company signed a business agreement with the city of Mont-roig del Camp and the Catalonia Trade & Investment Agency (ACCIO) of Catalonia, Spain, to successfully establish a high-end copper foil production base in the European smart factory.

The agreement was signed at Lotte World Tower’s EBC on the 113th floor on Aug. 23, with attendees including Kim Yeon-seob, CEO of Lotte Energy Materials; Fran Morancho Lopez, mayor of Mont-roig del Camp, Spain; and Oriol Alcoba Malaspina, director of Catalonia Trade & Investment Agency.

Previously, Lotte Advanced Materials had announced its plan to invest a total of 560 billion won to construct a smart factory in Mont-roig del Camp, Catalonia, which will produce 30,000 tons of high-end copper foil for electric vehicle batteries by 2025.

The business agreement ceremony was organized to streamline various administrative procedures for the construction of the smart factory and to discuss comprehensive cooperative measures following the Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation (Proyectos Estratégicos para la Recuperación y Transformación Económica) policy and subsequent incentives.
