K-water has been selected as the implementer for the “Ukraine Uman Smart City Master Plan Establishment Project,” a K-City Network project overseen by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation, on Aug. 23. This initiative, chosen in June by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and KIND, is one of several 2023 K-City Network projects. Its primary objective is to utilize Uman’s city characteristics focused on tourism to establish a master plan for a sustainable and efficient business city development.

The main aspects of the project include an analysis of the development conditions needed to rebuild Uman, Ukraine, into a smart city, the establishment of a smart city master plan, securing funds, and inviting city officials for training. The project is set to commence with a kick-off meeting in September and aims for completion by April 2024. This service is the first urban reconstruction-related service commissioned by the government. K-water plans to actively utilize its vast urban construction experience and expertise, which it has amassed through projects such as the Busan Eco Delta City Smart City.
