Market research firm Gartner released its list of the top 10 digital innovators in the Asia-Pacific region on November 9.

The list consists of eight Chinese companies, one South Korean and one Japanese. Chinese fintech giants Ant Financial and Lufax ranked fourth and 10th, respectively. JD.com, Didi and Xiaomi came in fifth, sixth and seventh.

Naver is the only South Korean company on the list and Yahoo Japan is the only Japanese company on it. They came in ninth and eighth, respectively. Gartner advised that the chief information officers of companies planning to expand their digital business need to have a good grasp of the 10 companies and determine early whether to cooperate or compete with them.

The market research firm predicted that approximately 80% of the enterprises that are currently doing business would lose about 10% of their markets until 2021 after failing to catch up with the pace of innovation. “IT leaders and global enterprise CIOs are familiar with American IT companies such as Google, Facebook, Amazon and Apple but they are still not fully aware of how the Asian IT giants are changing the landscape of digital business,” Gartner analyst CK Lu pointed out.
