Chungjungone, the food division of Daesang Corp, which produces the bacon product, announced that they have ceased the production of uncooked hams and sausage products made of European port amid rising concerns over public safety due to the hepatitis E virus.

The company halted the production of “Bacon Smoked with Oak Trees” to relieve public concern over sausages made with Dutch or German pork.

Chungjungone will restart the production of the product after changing the ingredient supplier regardless of the result of the inspection by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

An official from Daesang Chungjungone said, “We will pay more attention to provide foods that consumers can feel safe to eat through stricter standards of management in the future.”
