Powerful Folder-type Phone
Samsung Electronics is preparing to release the most powerful folder phone that has an AP as good as that of the Galaxy S8. According to the US IT professional media Phone Arena, an official image of Samsung Electronics' high-end folder phone “SM-W2018” was leaked on August 30 (local time). This product seems to be the sequel to the Ximsitianxia series which Samsung Electronics released in China.
A Ximsitianxia phone is a so-called folder-type smartphone for the top 1 percent of the Chinese people. Some of the proceeds from its sales are being used for social contribution purposes, as the name means “High-class people are concerned about the world.” Although its price is close to three million won, which is more than three times that of an existing premium smartphone, the phone is popular among the Chinese upper class. SM-W2018 is expected to be the tenth Ximsitianxia model.
Most of all, Phone Arena expects the SM-W2018's application processor (AP) to be loaded with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835. Called the "brain of smartphones," AP is a key component that directly affects the speed and efficiency of a smartphone. Snapdragon 835 is the highest performance AP available at the moment. The Samsung Galaxy S8 series is also loaded with this AP. The model is said to have a 6GB RAM and a 64 GB storage. Like its predecessor, the model features a 4.2-inch full HD display, a 12 megapixel rear camera, and a 2300mAh battery.
In terms of radio certification, SM-W2018 has been approved by the TENAA and the US FCC (US Federal Communications Commission). But its launch time and price have not been released yet. It is also unclear where it will be sold expect for China.
