Korea Industrial Complex Corp. (KICOX) announced that it held a completion ceremony of Iksan General Business Center on July 13. The ceremony was attended by officials and heads at related agencies and companies such as Kim Il-jae, Vice Governor for Administrative Affairs of North Jeolla Province, Jeong Hun-yul, mayor of Iksan and Cho Bae-sook, member of the National Assembly.

Construction of Iksan General Business Center began on a total floor space of 6,000 square meters in December 2015 with the total investment of 18.3 billion won (US$16.08 million) and the six-story building with one ground floor completed in May 2017.

Major organizations, which opened the office in the center, include the south branch of Korea Institute of Lighting Technology which will help companies in the province to carry out tests and receive certifications as well as provide R&D equipment, the southwestern branch of 3D Printing Manufacturing Innovation Support Center, which will apply 3D printing technologies to the jewelry industry and help improve the process, and the startup incubator center which will help prep entrepreneurs with technology start business.

When a convention hotel boasting 160 guest rooms, which is located near Iksan General Business Center, and Knowledge Industry Center, which is a lease-type factory for entrepreneurs, are completed in August next year, the obsolete national industry complex will turn into an urban high-tech converged industrial complex, which, in turn, will invigorate the regional economy, according to the KICOX.

To celebrate the completion of the General Business Center, the Southwestern 3D Printing Fair and Festival will be held for three days from July 13 to 15, jointly hosted by 11 organizations, including North Jeolla Province, Iksan City, Jeonbuk Technopark, Wonkwang University, Howon University and 3D Printing Industrial Association.
