Samsung Medical Center said that the hospital held the 2017 Samsung Amyloid Symposium at Grand Hilton Seoul Hotel on May 27.

The symposium was held under the theme of “diagnoses and treatment of amyloidosis,” sponsored by the National Institute of Health and the Research Center on Rare Blood Diseases.

Specialized lectures on diagnoses and treatment of amyloidosis were delivered by Jeon Eun-seok and Lee Ga-yeon, professors of cardiovascular medicine, Kim Ki-hyun and Kim Seok-jin, professors of hemato-oncology, Min Joo-hong, a professor of neurology, Choi Joon-young, a professor of nuclear medicine at Samsung Medical Center, Grace Lin, a professor of cardiovascular medicine at Mayo Clinic, Efstathios Kastritis, a professor of hemato-oncology at Athens University and Yoshiki Sekijima, a professor of neuroscience and rheumatology at Shinshu University.

On the other hand, Samsung Medical Center launched the Amyloidosis Research Team in 2009. The team holds regular meetings of doctors of hemato-oncology, cardiology, nephrology, neurology, pathology, laboratory medicine, and nuclear medicine, conducting multi-disciplinary treatment and research.
