The Orion Group announced on April 12 that the company donated 50,000 Choco Pies to Peru seriously damaged floods under an El Niño phenomenon.

Lee Kyu-hong, vice president of Orion, flew into Peru and met Mercedes Araoz, vice president of Peru to offer his condolence and deliver the products to the vice president.

Peru was hit by floods and landslides due to the impact of El Niño (a rise in sea temperature) which has stayed near the equator) in coastal waters since early March. The floods and landslides left nearly one million people injured and more than 100 people dead.

Prior to this donation, the Orion Group made international relief efforts by delivering relief goods such as Choco Pies in the wake of the Sichuan Earthquake in China in 2008 and damages by typhoon Haiyen in the Philippines in 2013.

"We decided to give support to the Peruvian people who have devastated by the natural disasters. We will continue humanitarian aid both at home and abroad in the future," an Orion official said.
