LG Electronics announced on April 6 that it will release its flagship smartphone “G6” in North America on the 7th (local time).
The company started preorder sales of the G6 in North America on March 17. It opened the G6 experience zone at 25,000 local mobile carrier stores and electronics stores. It also presented Google Home, an artificial intelligence speaker powered by the Google Assistant, as a free gift.
LG Electronics is planning to launch the G6 in 200 mobile carriers in the global major markets, such as Europe, Commonwealth of Independent States, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America, one by one after North America.
However, the company has decided not to release the G6 in China, the world’s largest smartphone market. It is a realistic and strategic decision considering the intense competition in the market and the company’s low market share.
