As a U.S mobile carrier offers the Galaxy S8 for free, the grumbling of domestic consumers is increasing.

U.S. consumers are provided a free Galaxy S8 when they purchase the product under certain contract conditions at the mobile carrier.

U.S. Cellular announced on April 3 (local time) that it offers Samsung's flagship, the Galaxy S8, for free when consumers commit to a 30-month service.

It is not confirmed yet whether Samsung Electronics partially supports the funds for the unprecedented promotion or U.S. Cellular fully support it.

In addition, U.S. consumers will also receive Samsung’s virtual reality (VR) headset “the Gear VR with Controller” as a special gift when they decide to purchase the Galaxy S8 at U.S. Cellular before the official release date on the 21st.

However, Korean consumers need to pay nearly 1 million won (US$900) for the Galaxy S8 even with a 24-month service contract. The sales price of the Galaxy S8 in Korea is 935,000 won (US$830). The price of the Galaxy S8 is higher in Korea than the U.S. and domestic consumers need to cover the entire cost, except for an official subsidy, even when they commit to a 24-month service.
