CJ 4DPLEX opened its first 4DX theater (140 seats) in Oslo, Norway, with Nordisk Film Kino, the top Norwegian theater operator, on March 10 (local time). Nordisk has 39 theaters in Denmark and Norway.
On March 15 (local time), the Korean company opened a 4DX theater (104 seats) in the "Pathé's La Villette" Theater in Paris, in partnership with France's leading theater company "Pathé".
The 4DX theaters in Norway and France chose “Bean: Skull Island” for their first show. The intense motion and environmental effects of 4DX were combined and the audience enthusiastically welcomed the film with the effects. Norway's 4DX hall recorded an occupancy rate of 97% on the first weekend and the 4DX hall seats were sold out in France, proving its immense popularity on its opening day.
CJ 4DPLEX will open its first 4DX cinemas in Austria during the first half of the year. The company plans to complete its ongoing negotiations and secure 81 4DX halls in 23 countries in Europe by the end of the year.
"We aim to operate 600 4DX Pavilion in 67 countries by the end of the year through the signing of new partnerships in various countries," CJ 4DPLEX CEO Choi Byeong-hwan said, adding, “In the year 2017, 4DX will be firmly established as a mainstream platform for world cinema."
