Samsung Electronics has started its marketing campaign for the Galaxy S8 to be unveiled at the end of this month and released in the global market from April 21. Last year, the company failed to promote its new product as it decided to discontinue the troubled Galaxy Note 7 smartphone. So, Samsung Electronics is expected to focus on expanding the sale of the Galaxy S8.

According to industry sources on March 16, a viral video entitled “This is a phone” which was produced by Samsung Electronics recorded more than 22 million views on YouTube in just two weeks after posting. As part of the company’s marketing campaigns to promote the Galaxy S8 in advance, the video is getting an explosive response from consumers.

In addition, new pictures claiming to be the Samsung Galaxy S8 have continuously leaked online. Although they are not the pictures officially released by Samsung Electronics, they serve as an effective marketing tool to draw attention from consumers. The image, which seems to be basic app icons pre-installed on the Galaxy S8, was recently leaked and a number of the Galaxy S8 pictures taken from many angles are continuously being leaked. The new model has no home button and brand logo on the front with a dual-edge curved screen display. Also, the Bixby voice-assistant button rests on the left under the Volume rocker button.

The Galaxy S8 has a glossy glass back, and a fingerprint scanner next to the camera button. As the home button is removed, the fingerprint scanner has moved to the rear.

Samsung Electronics is expected to make every effort to increase the sales of the Galaxy S8. This is because the company has been unable to sell enough products for over six months after September last year. The Galaxy S8 series is said to include the Galaxy S8 with a 5.7-inch (14.48㎝) display, and a Galaxy S8 Plus with a 6.2-inch (15.75㎝) display. This is to target consumers who smartphones and tablets with a large display like the Galaxy Note.

Meanwhile, the securities industry sources has come with rosy prospects that sales of the Galaxy S8 will surpass the Galaxy S7, which sold 50 million units last year.

The Galaxy S8 will be released at the same time in New York and London on the 29th (local time). It is believed that Samsung will receive a pre-order from April 7 to 17 after the release and officially launch the Galaxy S8 in some countries, including Korea, from April 21. The 5.7-inch model comes in three colors and sports 64GB internal storage, while the 6.2-inch model comes in three colors and sports 64GB and 128 GB internal storage. The prices will range from 900,000 won (US$796) to over 100,000 won (US$884).
