Samsung SDS has set a foundation to target the global market in earnest with its enterprise mobile management (EMM) solution.

The company announced on Feb. 13 that the iOS version of Samsung SDS' EMM solution has received the Common Criteria (CC) validation by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) under the National Security Agency (NSA) of the U.S.

It follows approval for the Android version of the solution back in 2015. The certification is required for a company to supply enterprise solutions to the U.S.’ public agencies.

The EMM solution improves profitability when companies and institutions handle their important tasks via smartphones and tablets. The solution allows managers to remotely control devices and install and delete apps. The manager can also remotely activate the screenlock function or initialize the system to prevent any confidential corporate data leakage in the case a device has been lost or stolen. In addition, the new system allows for minimal battery draining by offering users options to disable certain functions such as Global Positioning System (GPS) and Near-Field Communication (NFC).

In fact, the Portsmouth City Council of the U.K. has introduced Samsung SDS' EMM solution, which has a high security function, to access government data, e-mails and apps via mobile devices.

Until now, companies have been reluctant to use the EMM solution due to concerns over security. However, the solution has opened up the possibility of expanding to additional markets as it received the certification for security in succession.

Samsung SDS has already supplied the EMM solution to government agencies in the U.S. and Europe and the DSO National Laboratory in Singapore. The company also unveiled the EMM solution for Tizen-powered smartwatches last month.

When applying to the EMM solution to smartwatches, workers who can increase the work efficiency when they can freely use both hands, such as ground crew members at airports, flight attendants at airlines and employees at theme parks.
