K-ICT Born2Global Center (Born2Global), a major Korean government agency supporting startups under the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning (MSIP), announced that Salted Venture, a member of Born2Global, reached the top position in the health and fitness category at the ISPO AWARD 2017 held in Munich, Germany, on Feb. 5 (local time).

Salted Venture won the Gold Winner Award with its smart wearable golf shoes. IOFIT analyzes data about weight shifts, which are the most important in your golf swing, with pressure sensors installed in the soles of your shoes and provide solutions to improve your swing. The shoes also has a real-time coaching function that provides data about the weight on the ground and the balance of each swing position, such as address, top of the backswing, impact point, by measuring the shifts of the gravitational center of both feet during your swing.

Salted Venture CEO Cho Hyung-jin said, “This year, there seems to be a lot of new attempts converging IT with fashion markets and brands. Based on the latest award at the ISPO, we are planning to push into the European and other global markets to introduce the excellence of the product. We will also advance the era of smart shoes through collaboration with brands.”

Salted Venture won the Innovation Award in the wearable technology category at the CES 2017, the world largest consumer technology show, held in the U.S. in Jan. The CES Innovation Award is granted by the U.S. Consumer Technology Association (CTA) to the highest-quality products in 28 categories such as home appliances and computer peripherals. The wearable technology category has seen increasingly intense competition in recent years. Salted Venture also participated in the PGA Merchandise Show 2017, a golf merchandise event held in Orlando, and explored new opportunities for business partnerships through global retailers and golf schools. Starting with the delivery of pre-ordered products for Kickstarter, the company is planning to release IOFIT in the global market in earnest in the first half of the year.

Kim Jong-gap, director of the Born2Global Center, said, “As Salted Venture has received awards from prestigious major exhibitions in succession, its product quality and technology are achieving recognition at the same time. In particular, the latest award at the ISPO is expected to be a successful starting point of entering Europe and the U.S., which are the two largest sporting goods markets in the world.”
