Korea Grand Sale 2017
On January 20, the Visit Korea Year Organizing Committee will hold the opening ceremony of the Korea Grand Sale, a shopping and tourism festival for foreigners in the plaza fronting Doota Mall in Dongdaemun, Seoul.
The opening ceremony will kick off with Painter's Hero's performance, followed by the unveiling of the Korea Grand Sale Event Center at the entrance to Doota Mall and a tape cutting ceremony. The event will be attended by representatives of the Korea Tourism Organization, the Korea Tourism Association, the Korea Association of Travel Agents, and the Korea Tourist Association among others and feature a giveaway event for foreign tourists, a VR experience event for invited guests and a K-pop performance by the boy group Boy 24.
On the other hand, for foreign tourists arriving via Incheon International Airport from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm on January 20, the organizing committee will promote the festival by distributing promotional materials in foreign languages (English, Chinese and Japanese) at the arrival gate.
In addition, 100 college students of the Smiling Corps will hold the K Smile Campaign for foreigners from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Harmony Square of Dongdaemun Design Plaza in connection with the opening ceremony of the Korea Grand Sale. The college students will give away souvenirs to those who visit event booths and make good use of pickets and photo walls with messages about the K Smile Campaign to spread Korea’s hospitality culture, publicizing the Korea Grand Sale and the 2016 – 2018 Visit Korea Years.
The Korea Grand Sale will welcome foreign tourists with various discounts in various sectors including lodging, shopping, beauty care and entertainment from January 20 through February 28. Various programs will run at the event center where the opening event will be held from 1 pm to 9 pm every day during the period, providing foreign tourist with tourist assistance services such as English, Japanese, Chinese interpretation services, event guides and free internet use.
