Saint Johnsbury Academy Jeju (SJA Jeju) is getting ready to open in October 2017 as the school received the permissions of their international construction and student enrollment plans and this year.  

As the next step, SJA Jeju will hold admissions information sessions in both Seoul and Jeju. The first session will be held on November 15 at Jeju English Education Center and the other one will be held on November 26 at COEX, Seoul.

In both sessions, Bradley Ashley (Headmaster of SJA Jeju), Peter Toscano (Principal of Middle and High School), Stacy Molnar (Principal of Elementary School), Arthur Keown (Director of Administration) and Barbara Lonczac (Director of Admissions) will outline the philosophy of SJA and give detailed information on their program and admissions process since they are virtually in charge of teaching and managing SJA Jeju.

After the two sessions, SJA Jeju is planning to have additional sessions in major cities in Korea. The first period of student recruit is from November 1 to December 9 and both Korean and non-Korean residents can apply for PK-3 through Grade 10 (No Grade 11 and 12 in 2017). Go to http://sjajeju.openapply.com for detailed admissions information.

There will be kindergarten (PK-3~), elementary, middle and high school (Grade 12). In the first year, they are planning to have totally 444 students in 24 classes and finally 1,254 students in 68 classes. The co-ed boarding school will be located in Jeju Global Education City. SJA Jeju will pursue the authentic American schooling that has the same program and philosophy as its homeschool. For Korean students, Korean language and social studies (history) will be mandatory subjects and their high school education shall be regarded in Korea.

Founded in 1842, Saint Johnsbury Academy, the homeschool of SJA Jeju is located in Vermont, USA with high school program for Grade 9 through 12. One of the most distinguishable characteristics is its AP program. Totally, SJA has 25 AP courses which is plenty compared with other American private boarding schools offering average 16 courses. In 2016, a total of 230 Academy students took 482 AP exams in May 2016. The school’s passing rate was 80.2%, well above the state average of 67.2% and the national average of 60.3%

There are 250 international students from 30 countries at SJA and planning to open exchange student program with SJA Jeju.
