Fierce competition for innovative technology in the smartphone industry has been compelling the smartphone industry to neglect paying attention to consumer safety

It is being pointed out that amid a series of claims that not only the Galaxy Note 7 but the iPhone 7 caught fire, fierce competition for innovative technology in the smartphone industry compelled the smartphone industry to neglect paying attention to consumer safety.

According to the relevant industry and global IT experts on October 16, the Galaxy Note 7 Incident was blamed on immoderately fierce technological competition. They said that a sharp drop in the growth of the world smartphone market forced major smartphone makers to excessively speed up the development of new technology that can attract consumers.

In 2010, the smartphone market chalked up high growth of over 70% from a year earlier. In 2013, the growth of the market dropped to the 40% level. It is predicted that in 2016, the market will grow 5% year on year.

Experts diagnosed that Samsung Electronics had little choice but to take the lead in overheating the technological race in order to kill two birds with one stone –- keeping its position as first ranker in the shrinking smartphone market and taking the lead in innovative technology development. Accordingly, the smartphone giant has differentiated its smartphones by moving up the launches of new products by one to two months and loading them with various innovative technologies since last year.
