Samsung Electronics launched its new P-Series standalone SMART signage, the world’s first Tizen-powered premium displays, on October 10. Accordingly, the ecosystem of its Tizen operating system (OS) is expected to expand at a rapid pace.

The company released a total of seven new models, including 55-inch, 49-inch and 43-inch PHF display models with 700 nits of brightness, 55-inch, 49-inch and 43-inch PMF displays with 500 nits of brightness and 32-inch PMF display with 400 nits of brightness. The Tizen-powered SMART signage features a slim-depth design of 29.9mm and narrow bezel of 6.9mm.

Samsung has been announcing its plan to use Tizen OS as a platform of various information technology (IT) devices. The company has used Tizen OS in home appliances, such as Tizen smart TV and Tizen refrigerator, wearable devices and smartphones.

Equipped with the user-friendly user interface (UI) and quad core processor, the PHF and PMF series provide the environment that can stably operate flashy advertising contents. In addition, the company offers total solutions that allow users to remotely manage their entire SMART signage portfolio through a central remote server in real time.

Samsung Electronics provides the improved application programing interface (API) for the Samsung SMART Signage Platform (SSSP) partners. The company has secured the compatibility with the next-generation standards-based HTML5 so that developers can easily develop programs to be used in a range of store environments.

Recently, Signagelive, a contents management system (CMS) firm in Europe, also completed the tests on compatibility between the Tizen-powered SSP and Signagelive’s software and started selling the product. Both the PHF and PMF models are IP5X certified, thus allowing them to resist dust and dirt and to be used in a variety of locations subject to dust and dirt, including subway stations and bus terminals as well as general retail stores. They are durable enough to be used around the clock.
