Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction Co. announced on October 7 that it has clinched a Fadhili combined cycle power plant project worth 1 trillion won (US$896.46 million) in Saudi Arabia.

The power plant will supply electric power and heat to Fadhili Gas Complex located 85 kilometers northwest of Jubail Port in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia. The plant will have a capacity of 1519 megawatts.

The Korean company said that it formed a consortium with French energy company Engie to participate in the bid and received a notification that it won the project commissioned by Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) and the state-run oil company Aramco.

Previously, Doosan Heavy Industries signed a limited notice to proceed (LNTP) for the construction project with Engie in September and the LNTP has officially taken effect on the 7th as the consortium was notified by letter of award.

Under the terms of the contract, Doosan will undertake tasks from design to equipment manufacturing and installment, and to pilot operation as well as engineering, procurement and construction (EPC). The project is scheduled for completion by the end of November 2019.
