Excellence in Quality Control
Kolon Industries announced on August 26 that they won the Gold Award at the 2016 International Convention on Quality Control Circles in Bangkok, Thailand from August 23 to 26.
The energy control circle of Kolon Industries win the prize by making a presentation under the theme of “risk degree reduction by potential risk sources improvement for Heat Transfer Material boiler” by taking part in the Energy-Utility-Resources sector. The circle of Colon Industries made an improvement of the heat transfer material boiler, a power facility, by discovering its potential risk factors and survey its status. In particular, the circle received good responses from judges by discovering risks and suggesting solutions via specialized methods in the risk discovery sector.
Kolon Industries has been sharing many improvement cases at production sites with the overall industry by participating in quality control circle contests at home for about 30 years. These activities have empowered the company to exemplarily implement quality control circle activities such as winning 15 presidential prizes over the past four years. The Energy Control Circle of Kolon Industries accomplished a rare feat of picking up the Gold Award in their first participation in an international contest. The circle also claimed the Gold Prize at the National Quality Control Circles Contest in 2015.
“This is quite meaningful in that our quality management was internationally recognized as they won the prize,” said Lim Jae-choon, a director in charge of quality management at Kolon Industries. “We will carry out advanced quality management activities by developing our quality control circle activities into an international level.”
