South Korea and Russia will hold an Economic Science Technology Committee to discuss eight promising areas related to economics, including investment, energy, logistics, industry, agriculture and fisheries, scientific technology, regional cooperation and health and medical services, in depth.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance announced on August 22 that Yoo Il-ho, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Strategy and Finance, plans to attend the 15th Korea-Russia Economic Science Technology Committee to be held at the Hotel Shilla in Dongho-ro, Seoul, at 3 pm on the 25th. The Korea-Russia Economic Science Technology Committee is the high-level pan-governmental consultative body for economic cooperation between the two countries.

The delegations of the two countries will have an in-depth discussion of the cooperation in eight prospective sectors – trade and investment, energy and resources, transportation and logistics, industry, agriculture and fisheries and environment, scientific technology, communication and space, regional cooperation and health care services and tourism – and the improvement plans for companies’ business activities conditions.

In addition, they will check the joint projects in the economic sector, including Korea-Russia joint investment plans and joint cooperation for the development of the Far East, for the success of Korea-Russia summit talk which has been scheduled following the Eastern Economic Forum.

With Deputy Prime Minister Yoo Il-ho as the chief delegate, the Korean delegation consists of a total of 37 officials from 9 departments – Ministry of Strategy and Finance, Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and Ministry of Public Safety and Security, and three agencies – the export-import Bank of Korea, Korea Investment Corporation and Korea Trade Insurance Corporation.

With Yuri Petrovich Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister and Presidential Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District as the chief delegate, the Russian delegation consisting of 60 officials from 14 departments, including Government of the Russian Federation and Ministry of Economic Development, will participate in the committee.
