LG CNS said it has established and supplied a software development kit (SDK) for Pepper, a humanoid robot made by Japan’s Softbank Robotics.

Under the partnership with Softbank Robotics, LG Group's IT service affiliate offers its Pepper SDK to Android Studio. Both companies unveiled the SDK the first time at this year's Google developer conference, Google I/O, in May in San Francisco. The development of existing Pepper applications was based on the NAOqi operating system of France’s Aldebaran Robotics, which was acquired by Softbank in 2012.

An official from LG CNS said, “With the latest development of the SDK, Android developers around the world can build applications to control the movements of Pepper more easily. The software tool is expected to open up opportunities to develop various robot services in the IT industry.”

Since 2014, LG CNS has been the sole supplier for displays grafted to the chest of Pepper.

The Pepper SDK is available for Windows and Linux users at the moment, and would-be developers can access the versions of Windows and Linux Beta through Softbank Robotics' official website (https://developer.softbankrobotics.com/).
