LG Innotek said on July 18 that it has won the 2015 GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award.

The GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award has been annually granted to GM’s suppliers that meet a very stringent set of quality performance criteria by delivering ‘zero-defect’ products.

LG Innotek has supplied GM with the Battery Management System (BMS) for electric vehicles since 2010. The Korean electronic component manufacturer has established a foundation for its business by specializing in auto parts across all divisions such as R&D, production, quality, and marketing over the last ten years or more.

In 2004, it also obtained the ISO/TS 16940 certification, which is the standard quality management system in the automotive industry. And then in 2014, it further strengthened its quality control capability by acquiring the Automotive Software Process Improvement and Capability determination (ASPICE) certification, which is an international standard for functional safety of electrical and/or electronic systems.

Based on its reliable quality, LG Innotek’s auto parts division recorded 649.6 billion won in sales last year, up 22 percent from a year earlier. The company expects the expansion of its auto parts division to gain momentum as it has received the GM Quality Excellency Award.

The product line-up covers about 20 kinds of parts, including motors, sensors, camera modules, wireless communications modules, wireless recharge modules, touch panels, and LEDs to improve safety and convenience for drivers, as well as BMS and DC-DC convertor used for electric vehicles.
