LG Innotek has released this year's sustainability report highlighting its corporate sustainability management activities in the economic, environmental and social sectors. The 2016 sustainability report is the seventh since the release of its first report in 2010.
The report outlines the company’s key themes, including efforts to find new growth engines, ways to improve product competitiveness, customer satisfaction management, energy efficiency plans, employee education plans and safe workplace initiatives. LG Innotek has presented its achievements and plans to analyze market conditions and requests from interested parties by subject and respond to them.
In a bid to strengthen its position as the market leader and promote new business, LG Innotek made a 442.6 billion won (US$383.7 million) R&D investment last year. The figure was up 6 percent from the previous year despite the difficult market environment. The company’s cash-cow automotive components business posted 649.6 billion won (US$563.16 million) in sales, up 22 percent from a year earlier, proving its global competitiveness.
In addition, LG Innotek has designated the fourth day of every month as “Safety Day” and eliminated any potential risk factors at sites in order to ensure a safe workplace. The company has also improved its safety and health standards and realized zero-injury workplace through the in-house consultative groups like “Safety and Health Committee.”
“LG Innotek will improve corporate communications with interested parties and we will try to reflect requests and other suggestions raised by business partners to management," CEO Park Jong-seok said in the report.
