Founded in 1994, MDS Technology Co., Ltd is the Korean No.1 provider of embedded solutions. Embedded solutions refer to computer systems written to control machines or devices that are not typically thought of as computers.

By providing fully integrated and tested software and hardware platforms, MDS helps remove risks as well as shorten the time to market. For instance, as a Microsoft-authorized partner in Korea, South East Asia, India and Oceania region, MDS has helped OEMS find the right Windows OS so that they develop differentiated devices rapidly. Moreover, MDS helps reduce development time and cost by introducing industry-leading hardware and software partners based on the broad partner network.

MDS serves 1,500 customers across a variety of industries, including smart phones, home appliances, military, aerospace and automobiles. Major clients in Korea include Hyundai Motor Company, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, SK Hynix, Agency for Defense Development and LIG Nex1.

When asked about the company’s future plans, Lee Sang-heon, CEO of MDS technology, said that MDS technology is currently seeking to further expand into IoT, cloud, big data and security areas, while pushing into global markets. Then, Lee pointed to the two major steps that MDS technology has recently taken to buttress the long-term vision. The one is the recent signing of a Cloud-Solutions Partnership with Microsoft and the other is the recent acquisition of 70% stake in Teladin Co., Ltd., a Korean provider of M2M modules and 3G, 4G LTE-based communication modems.

The enhanced partnership with Microsoft for cloud-solutions has made MDS technology a certified supplier of Microsoft’s cloud service platform, Azure, through which MDS technology will attract rising numbers of IoT and cloud-based business opportunities. Moreover, via the acquisition of major stakes in Teladin, MDS technology will benefit from the synergy effect of combining its embedded software technologies and the wireless communication technology of Teladin.
