Hyundai Engineering announced on May 30 that it has opened and operated “Welder Training Center” at the ethane cracker plant in Kiyanly, Turkmenistan.

The opening ceremony was attended by 300 officials, including Turkmengaz director of construction Cherkezov Merdan, Turkmenbashi city mayor Isayev Amangeldi, and Hyundai Engineering executives and managers.

The welding technology training center, which consists of classrooms and welding laboratories, will be run for 12 months from now, with a total of four groups of students who will take the classes for three months each. Instructors for the classes will consist of employees of Hyundai Engineering and local partner firms.

Hyundai plans to train a total of 400 newly minted welders – 100 per group – who will be hired by Hyundai and local partner firms.
