Hyundai Motor Co. announced on May 24 that its Ioniq Electric has earned the official driving range certification of 191 kilometers on a single charge (206 km in city streets and 173 km on highways). The Ioniq Electric is the company’s new electric vehicle (EV) to be launched next month.

Previously, Hyundai Motor said that the Ioniq Electric can run up to 169 kilometers at room temperature in the public EV supply announcement. The certified driving range of the Ioniq Electric is longer by 43 to 100 kilometers than that of other electric vehicles sold at home depending on road type. In terms of local road, the Ioniq Electric surpassed 200 kilometers on a single charge with 206 kilometers for the first time among all domestically produced EVs.

The Ioniq Electric is a pure EV equipped with a motor that can produce up to 120 horsepower and a torque of 30 kg-meters. It also features a 28 kilowatt-per-hour lithium-ion polymer battery pack on board. It takes 24 minutes to completely fill its battery with a fast charging system, while it needs 4 hours and 25 minutes to fully charge at a normal charging station.

The Ioniq Electric is also fitted with the cutting-edge safety package, such as the Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Blind Spot Detection system (BSD).

The prices of the Ioniq Electric are 40 million won (US$33,543) for the N-Trim and 43 million won (US$36,059) for the Q-Trim. With central government and regional government subsidies included, the actual price customers pay can go down to 20 million to 25 million won (US$16,771 to 20,964).
