Professional material company Enexis developed the world’s first, new high-tech eco-friendly thermal material maximizing energy loss prevention.

On September 11, Enexis announced it successfully developed a method for producing multi-purpose functional cotton. 

The newly-developed material brings out the natural thermal properties contained in pure organic cotton and uses them to create a more functional composition.

Enexis takes pure cotton produced in an eco-friendly way that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, removes the seeds, and uses the remainder as material for functional compositions. This process creates almost no industrial waste. 

Excellent heat retention is the core of material technology. The new thermal material developed by Enexis uses pure cotton in its natural form, which works as latent fiber, naturally intertwined with thousands of air bubbles that make hot and cold difficult to transmit. This property can prevent over 92% of inner heat from escaping, thus becoming fundamental to the new technology. 

An Enexis representative said, “The newly-developed material can be used as insulation for floors, walls, and ceilings to prevent energy being wasted through radiant conduction, and allows building a Home Energy System (HERS) with only solar generation,” and added, “If wasted energy is efficiently prevented, a single 30-inch solar panel (260w) can run not only air conditioning and heating but also lighting, electronics, and air ventilation. If saved to a lithium-ion battery, depending on the ESS capacity, it is anticipated for new regeneration energy to be used regardless to rain.”
